At MeGo driving school in Brno you can complete the entire Category B course on an automatic-transmission vehicle — at the same price as a manual course.
Driving an automatic is simpler — there\'s no gear changing, so you can fully focus on traffic. You\'ll appreciate this especially in city driving, when parking and at junctions.

Automatic licence — what\'s important to know
If you pass the final exam on a vehicle with automatic transmission, you receive a Category B driving licence with code 78 (automatic-only restriction). With this licence you may only drive vehicles with automatic transmission. If you later want to drive a manual, you\'ll need to take a supplementary exam on a manual vehicle.
The course itself is identical to the standard Category B course — same theory (20 hours), same number of driving lessons (min. 34 × 45 min) and the same final exams. The only difference is that you learn on an automatic.

At MeGo the automatic course costs the same as the manual one — starting at 32,700 CZK for English-speaking students. No surcharge for automatic transmission. The 700 CZK magistrate fee and the first-exam fee are already included.

Frequent questions about the automatic course
Can I drive a manual with an automatic-only licence?
No. A code 78 (automatic) licence only allows you to drive automatic-transmission vehicles. To drive a manual too, you'll need a supplementary exam on a manual vehicle.
Is the automatic course more expensive than manual?
No, the price is the same. At MeGo we don't charge any surcharge for the automatic course. Theory, driving hours and the price are identical to the manual course.
Do you recommend automatic or manual?
It depends on your plans. If you're going to drive only modern cars, EVs or hybrids, automatic is a great choice — these cars come with automatics as standard. If you want maximum flexibility, go with the manual course.
What does the automatic exam look like?
The theory exam (test) is identical to the manual course. The practical exam is taken on an automatic-transmission vehicle. After passing, you get a Category B licence with code 78 — restricted to automatics.
Can I extend my licence to manual later?
Yes. To extend your licence to manual you'll need to take a supplementary exam on a manual-transmission vehicle. You don't need to complete the whole course again — just the practical exam.
What car do you use?
The automatic course uses an automatic-transmission car from our fleet. Lessons are always 2 × 45 minutes back to back (90 minutes), the same as the manual course.
